Study Abroad Fair

The fair is aimed at students who are interested in a stay abroad during their studies.

Study Abroad Fair

The event will feature presentations from former outgoings on their experiences abroad, planning and financing, and studying and living abroad. All regions worldwide will be covered and different options will be presented.

With the help of information material and discussions with the respective program coordinators, students can find out more about the individual partner universities and funding opportunities. In addition, former participants of the exchange programs will share their experiences and provide practical tips for planning.

The Baden-Württemberg Foundation, the German-American Center (DAZ), the Language Center of the University of Stuttgart and representatives of the double master programs of the University of Stuttgart as well as KOOR - Erasmus Services BW will also be present.

The fair will take place on May 3, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the foyer of the IZ.

In the following schedule, interested students will find a timeline of the different sessions. Each session consists of a short presentation by former program participants. Afterwards there is the possibility to ask questions. Pre-registration is not necessary.

The entire event will take place in the foyer of the IZ, Pfaffenwaldring 60, Campus Vaihingen.

Timeline

A stay abroad at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, one of the oldest and best universities in South Africa, is a special experience. The humanities, social sciences, engineering and natural sciences are offered at 10 faculties. All exchange students also have the opportunity to learn Afrikaans. Simon reports on his semester abroad in 2022 at Stellenbosch University and life in the Western Cape. 

The University of Toronto is one of the leading Canadian universities in research and teaching. Spread over 3 locations in and around Toronto, students from all departments have the opportunity to spend a stay there as part of the exchange program. Benjamin spent the academic year 21/22 in Toronto and reports about his stay.

The University of Sydney in Australia has one of the largest and most important architecture faculties in the world. The School of Architecture, Design and Planning comprises ten fields of study at the highest international level. This cooperation is open to bachelor and master students of architecture and urban planning who are interested in studying abroad in the heart of Sydney.

Erik studied architecture at the University of Sydney for two semesters in 2022 and reports on his experiences, giving helpful insider tips for preparing, studying and living in Australia.

The University of Virginia is one of the leading research universities in the USA and was founded in 1819 on the initiative of US President Thomas Jefferson. Parts of the campus are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. At UVA, students can take courses from all engineering disciplines as part of the exchange program. Alex studied aerospace engineering at UVA for one semester and talks about his stay.

At Toyohashi University of Technology, students can spend one to two semesters abroad during their master's studies. English-language master's degree programs are offered in engineering, chemistry, and architecture courses. The campus, located close to the sea, offers additional opportunities to take Japanese courses to learn more about the traditions of Japan and the Japanese language.

Simon recently returned from his two-semester stay at Toyohashi University and will report on his exciting experiences in Japan.

The Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) is the oldest private university in Peru. Located on a spacious and modern campus in Peru's capital Lima, the PUCP offers students of the University of Stuttgart the opportunity to take courses of all disciplines in Spanish. Daniel spent the last semester at PUCP and shares his experiences.

Presentation by future STEM teachers about their participation in the Global Teaching Labs in Stuttgart and their 10-day stay at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where they had the opportunity to get to know life and research on campus as well as the US-American school system.

The program is funded by the Vector foundation.

The Erasmus+ Internship Program is aimed at students and graduates who would like to complete a voluntary or compulsory internship abroad in Europe. In this presentation, Sarah Fatemi from KOOR - Erasmus Services BW informs about scholarship benefits, funding criteria and the application process.
