Selection criteria

For granting the scholarships, the following selection criteria apply:

  • Study achievements
  • Motivation
  • Engagement
  • Significance of the stay for the respective study program
  • Existing language skills

The selection of applicants is made by the commission for student exchanges. Due to the limited funds available, only some of the applications can be funded.

Please note:

  • All allowances are paid at a fixed rate that cannot be changed. Total or partial funding of tuition fees is not possible.
  • Not all PROMOS scholarship options described on the DAAD website have been adopted by the University of Stuttgart.

Recognition of study achievements

  • Before leaving, you should check with the professors responsible or with the examination committee whether your study achievements abroad will be recognized.
  • Make a list of courses (with content) from the course catalog of the host university.

It may turn out that, during your stay abroad, not all courses listed in the course catalog are offered in that academic year. So stay in touch with the respective professors in Stuttgart during your stay abroad.

Information for BAföG recipients

If you apply for a Bafög grant for studies abroad (“Auslands-Bafög”), you must inform the Bafög office of your PROMOS scholarship. Where applicable, the PROMOS funding will be offset against the benefits of the Auslands-Bafög.

Insurance

You will have to take care of a foreign health insurance independently. You have the option to take out a combined health, accident, and liability insurance by way of the DAAD insurance. Please apply directly with the DAAD. For any questions, please contact the DAAD directly.

Experience report

Please submit your experience report to us no later than 2 months after your stay abroad has ended. Please use our form for this purpose. Students who participated in an exchange program of the University of Stuttgart are asked to follow the instructions of their coordinators.
