What is Specialized Mentoring?
International students are often confronted with major challenges at a German university. The Specialized Mentoring aims to create opportunities to meet and overcome these challenges with various offers tailored to the different subject programs. In order to achieve that, an analysis was conducted between students and university staff at the beginning of 2023. The analysis of the survey revealed different needs, with a specific need for support in organizational matters and social contact in particular. With a focus on mentoring programs (especially group mentoring) and the training of various stakeholders involved with international students, the Specialized Mentoring was relaunched in winter semester 2023/24. The offer is to be expanded, depending on demand and resources.
