In your C@MPUS-Account (application "my payments") the total amount payable is indicated. Besides you will receive an official notification of fees with a list of the single amounts and the total amount.
Please transfer the total amount to the bank account of the University of Stuttgart within the re-registration period. The booking of the payment in your C@MPUS-Account is decisive: for summer semester by 15 February at the latest, for winter semester by 15 August at the latest. Please note, that the transfer of your payment from our bank account into your C@MPUS-account takes at least 3 workdays.
If you don’t pay the required amount in time a late payment fee of EUR 20.00 will be charged. This fee and the deficit have to be transferred within a certain extension period. If we don’t receive your payment before the extension deadline you will be de-registered by the end of the current semester.
This de-registration is binding and, as a matter of principle, cannot be reversed!
Information on leave of absence, change of the study program and end of the study
If you want to take a leave of absence please submit an informal application and appropriate evidence to justify your leave of absence to the Admissions Office within the re-registration period.
The semester fee has to be paid for a semester on leave in full because you remain registered. Therefore an exemption and refund of the fee is not possible.
The tuition fee hasn’t to be paid for a semester of leave if you get exempted from it in time. For this please submit the Applications for a Leave and for Exemption in paper form to the Admissions Office before the beginning of the lecture period.
Do you want to change your study program next semester, for example because you have completed your Bachelor’s and would like to begin your Master’s, or if you wish to change subjects?
Enrolment
If the enrollment deadline for your chosen study program is next semester and you want to remain enrolled at the university, then you have two options:
- You can re-register on your original study program by transferring the semester fees (and study fees) before the deadline expires. If you miss the payment deadline you will have to pay an additional late fee of EUR 20.00. As soon as you have enrolled on the new study program and have completed your original study program, the EUR 20.00 late fee will automatically be transferred to your account and discounted from the fees due in the next semester so that the next time you confirm your enrollment you will have to pay less.
If you did not complete your original study program and you are initially enrolled on both courses simultaneously, then you will not be refunded the ten euros additional late fee. - Or, if possible, you can enroll on your new study program during the current semester, so in the winter semester until March 31. Or the summer semester by September 30.
Exmatriculation
If you fail to either confirm your enrollment or register then you will be officially exmatriculated at the end of the semester. If you are exmatriculated, you will lose your student status until you enroll on a new study program and this might carry some negative consequences. They might concern the following areas:
- Some of the facilities at the university (computer pools, laboratories) and certain software licenses are only available to enrolled students.
- Student health insurance
- (Student) ticket, e.g. JugendTicketBW, AusbildungsTicket
- Residence permit for foreign students
- Child benefits
Payment deadlines
Your C@MPUS account will display the enrolment confirmation deadline (February 15 or August 15) as the payment deadline for the semester fees (and student fees, if applicable). As soon as you have accepted a place on your new study program, the payment deadline is the enrolment deadline of the new study program.
You can re-register for the following semester, as long as your exam results are not recorded in your C@MPUS account. As soon as the results have been recorded you will be automatically exmatriculated at the end of the current semester.
Re-registration is possible but not necessary
Once you have signed up for your last exam or Bachelor's/Master's thesis you can apply for exmatriculation at the end of the semester. If this is the case, then you do not need to re-register. You do not need to be enrolled in order to record the results of your final exam, because the registered exams do not depend on your enrollment at the university. This includes repeat exams.
Please be aware before you apply for exmatriculation that once you have been exmatriculated you will lose your student status and this might carry some negative consequences. They might concern the following areas:
- Some of the facilities at the university (computer pools, laboratories) and certain software licenses are only available to enrolled students.
- Student health insurance
- (Student) ticket, e.g. JugendTicketBW, AusbildungsTicket
- Residence permit for foreign students
- Child benefits
The relevant form and further information about exmatriculation can be found on our website under: "De-registration".
If you don’t wish to re-register
If you do not wish to re-register we recommend that you complete the regular exmatriculation form so that you can download proof of exmatriculation and your pension statement. If you simply stop paying the semester fees (and student fees, if applicable) you will receive a reminder at the end of the semester and will be officially exmatriculated at the end of the semester. In this case you will only be able to download proof of exmatriculation and your pension statement after you have been officially exmatriculated.
Reimbursements
Please check in good time if your fees account is in plus. We will refund the money if you send us a request for reimbursement by the relevant deadline by post or by email. The form and the deadlines can be found on our website under "Refund of Fees".
