On this website, you can find out who you can contact with which questions and on which topics the International Office offers online information events for international students. As an international student you are welcome to contact the International Office at the IZ should you have any questions concerning your daily life in Stuttgart: We are your first place to go and we are always happy to help!

The International Office offers advice and services to:

The International Office offers office hours on-site to international students and to all students interested in studying abroad:

Monday & Wednesday: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Tuesday & Thursday: 10 a.m. to noon

to international students and students interested in studying abroad.

Individual appointments:

Do not hesitate to ask for an individual online or on-site appointment with your specific advisor. International researchers and PhD students should generally make an individual appointment.

You are invited and very welcome to participate!

(Online) information sessions for degree-seeking students

Most of our information sessions are online and in English. Therefore, you can also take part if you are not yet in Stuttgart. Participation in the online sessions provides you with detailed information, tips from first-hand experience, the chance to ask all kinds of questions, and the possibility to connect with other students.

You will learn about visa applications, health insurance, accommodation, enrollment, and other important topics to consider when you prepare for your arrival in Stuttgart in the coming winter semester.

You will learn about financing your studies and receive information about the costs of living and studying, working during your studies, and scholarships. This session focuses on students who have received their admission for the coming winter semester. You can also join if you have just started your studies.

Most of our information sessions take place online and in English. Therefore, you can also take part if you are not yet in Stuttgart. Participation in the online sessions is mandatory for all exchange program students and a fundamental part of the exchange. 

In this information session we will give you an overview of what to expect during your exchange semester at the University of Stuttgart, what registration and application requirements apply, what documents you will need, and what the deadlines are.

You will have plenty of time to ask any questions you have about your exchange and experience. The session will facilitate your planning for the exchange semester, your possible visa, and your flight ticket.

Participation is mandatory for all program and exchange students!

In this information session, we will give you an overview of how the registration portal for exchange semesters "Mobility-Online" and the application/admission portal "C@MPUS" work and what date you will need to enter and upload.

In this information session, we will give you the details for preparing for your arrival, summarize the most important formalities that you have to prepare, and provide you with an overview of the orientation days on campus.

Besides guided campus and city tours, excursions, and information about the intensive German course, the info sessions described below are part of the orientation days for exchange students.

You do not need to register. Just come by!

You will receive an e-mail with a detailed schedule for the orientation week, no matter when exactly you are planning to arrive.

In this session, we will inform you about the University of Stuttgart, its (student) groups, your student e-mail address, the sports program, and much more.

Participation is mandatory for all program and exchange students!

The first part of this session focuses on what you need to know about living in Stuttgart: how to behave in an emergency, the health system and medical care, the organization of living in a shared flat (e.g. dealing with the broadcasting fee), important rules and laws in Germany, safety and public transport in Stuttgart. You will also learn how you can spend your free time on and off campus.

The second part is about studying specifically at the University of Stuttgart. You will get insights into the following topics: the academic schedule of your exchange semester, important dates and deadlines, and holidays/vacations. We will also explain important processes such as course selection, registration, exam registration, and the grading and ECTS system in Germany.

If required, we will also offer this event in April/October.

Participation is mandatory for program and exchange students!

You will receive an e-mail with a detailed schedule for your first week including the links to join the information sessions, no matter when exactly you are planning to arrive.

Any program-specific details will be communicated by e-mail from your respective advisor at the International Office.

We will guide you step by step through all the formalities, taking your individual situation into account. You will learn about accommodation, health insurance, residence registration, opening a bank account, residence permit, and registration at the university. There will be time for any questions you might have.

If required, we will also offer this event in April/October.

You will receive an e-mail with a detailed schedule for your first week including the links to join the information sessions, no matter when exactly you are planning to arrive.

This event takes place in person and provides you with an opportunity to meet other international exchange students at the University of Stuttgart. We also invite local students who are about to leave for their exchange semester abroad to your home country or even your home university. Come and enjoy an afternoon in a relaxed atmosphere!
