Conducted by Veronika Stoertzenbach, this event presents three stunning pieces:

During the happy summer of 1877, Johannes Brahms composed his second symphony at Wörthersee, often referred to as “pastoral”. It premiered in Vienna in the same year and was enthusiastically received by the audience. It remains a popular piece even today.

“A great melodic rainbow against a blue background of beautiful harmonies…ethereal, enchanting music with a unique vigor,” wrote "Le Figaro" of the premier of Francis Poulenc’s flute sonata in 195. It soon became one of the most popular pieces in the flute repertoire. Natalia Gerakis (Athens) plays this adaptation for flute and orchestra by Lennox Berkeley.

Poulenc’s “Gloria” begins with graceful ease, joy and vibrancy. Jazzy rhythmic choir alternates with smooth sopranos. With her radiating and yet soft timbre, soprano Alice Fuder gives this piece a wealth of rich tones.
