Research Group for Education and Social Inequality

The research group advocates a university-wide awareness of social inequality and its challenges and develops formats that support students in their education.

The main focus of the research group is on raising awareness of socio-economic and educational factors in all members of the university, especially in the teaching staff and the staff working at counseling centers. These factors include:

  • unequal (general) educational prerequisites;
  • the fact that some of the students have to finance their living and university studies through casual or part-time work;
  • as well as a lack of contact persons with an academic background among family or friends who could be consulted in case of university issues.

Furthermore, the research group directly supports students who are confronted with problems in this context. The research group comprises academic advisors, study guides, and members of the Student Counseling Center (ZSB), who will provide a committed and confidential advisory service. In addition, there are several projects and support services that have originated from the research group and can be used by students free of charge.

All interested students are very welcome to join the Research Group for Education and Social Inequality. Please contact Mr. Dirscherl and Dr. Zimmermann for current dates.
