Welcome to the University of Stuttgart, where interdisciplinary innovation meets diversity. At the University of Stuttgart, we take pride in fostering a diverse and dynamic learning structure in cooperation with world-leading companies close to Stuttgart. This video is an introduction to the study course Mechanical Engineering/ Materials and Production Engineering at the University of Stuttgart, Germany by Dean Mathias Liewald. After the introduction, he shows the most important information concerning the study course.
Language Proficiency
One of the first questions of students from abroad who are interested in the study course is about language: We recognize the importance of accommodating the diverse linguistic backgrounds of our student body but are required to present significant parts of the courses in German.
The general teaching language is German as a reflection of our good cooperation with local companies and manufacturers. However, we understand that some students may be proficient in understanding German but may feel more comfortable expressing themselves in English. To ensure that all students have the opportunity to thrive academically, we have implemented measures to support English-speaking students throughout their academic journey.
We recognize that certain pivotal aspects of your studies, such as the Master's Thesis, internship, and Term Thesis, hold significant weight in your academic experience. To facilitate a seamless learning experience for our English-speaking students, we offer the flexibility to organize these essential components entirely in English. This means that at least half of the total credits of the program can be completed in English, allowing you to fully engage with the material in a language that may align more with your comfort and proficiency.
In Stuttgart, we believe that linguistic diversity should be celebrated, and we are committed to providing a supportive and enriching environment for all our students. Whether you are navigating the intricacies of your coursework or conducting groundbreaking research, our faculty and staff are here to ensure that you have the resources and support needed to succeed.
