The Module Guide describes the modules and the required courses belonging to the module.

  • The Module Guide (also called module handbook) is published in the Campus Management System C@MPUS (please click as follows: choose the degree - click on the book behind the study program's name).

Key competencies (Schlüsselqualifikationen) are 3 CP courses designed for teaching you a non-subject-specific skill. These include e.g. a language, writing skills or many other interesting things. The SQ-lessons are listed in C@MPUS.

You don't necessarily have to take courses from the Cognitive Science, Computer Science and Linguistics catalogs. The only requirement is that you pass at least 30 CP in the Computational Linguistics catalog (at least 18 in one of the subcatalogs CoreCL, AppliedNLP and SpeechProc – your choice – and at least 6  in each of the other two). The regulations from 2024/25, in addition, don't allow more than 12 CP in the Linguistics catalog.

To get a rough overview in advance, you could take a look at the schedules of past semesters: Log into C@MPUS and click through the following selection options: "All Study Programs" → "Master of Science" → "Computational Linguistics". Then click on the calendar icons in the C@MPUS tree structure and and switch your view to "Schedule" and other semesters to view past course offerings.

Your degree program is first structured into catalogs and sub-catalogs (e.g. "Elective modules" or "Applied Natural Language Processing"). In the C@MPUS tree structure, these catalogs are marked by blue triangles. To find your degree program in C@MPUS, click on "All Study Programs" and then search for your degree program title. Catalogs are the containers for modules.

The next level in the C@MPUS tree structure contains modules, marked by orange squares containing an "M", these are the containers for courses.

A course is a lecture or seminar, listed under the nodes marked by a blue circle with "LV".
