In her doctoral research project, Manuela Zimmer is attempting to measure the muscular forces of skeletal muscles: Basic research for a variety of use cases. She tells how she discovered medical technology through working in a clinic and that she loves solving the technical aspects of a medical problem. She also talks about the diverse activities as a doctoral researcher at the international Research Training Group (IRTG) "Soft Tissue Robotics" and the numerous small goals that eventually lead to her PhD.
