Swaying high-rises and breathing building envelopes: what might the buildings of tomorrow look like? This symposium, organized by the Collaborative Research Center 1244, will be offering some exciting insight into this topic.
The first part of the symposium will focus on the conception, planning and visualization of the demonstration high-rise, which will be built on the University of Stuttgart’s Vaihingen Campus at the end of the year. The second part will be dedicated to exploring the adaptivity of supporting structures and building envelopes; while the third part focuses on the design and simulation of adaptive structures. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and enter into discussion with the lecturers at the end of each lecture.
The aim of SFB1244 is to find constructional answers to the urgent ecological and social issues of our time. The integration of adaptive elements into supporting structures, building envelop systems, and interior fittings is an important part of this. SFB1244 researches the principles, potential and effects of this approach. Thanks to the development of novel, adaptive concepts for all areas of the built environment, SFB1244 is dedicated to sustainable architecture, that takes responsibility for ecological, economic and sociocultural issues.
