The university's Racing Team celebrates a successful Formula Student season

October 22, 2021

In the summer of 2021, the Formula Student teams from the University of Stuttgart competed on the world's racetracks once more, following a one-year break from competition due to the pandemic.

Over the past two years, more than 20 students have been involved in designing, manufacturing, testing and perfecting their own racing vehicle in the workshop at Pfaffenwaldring. The end result: the F0711-15 - active aerodynamics, custom carbon rims and a self-welded titanium exhaust system that provides a distinctive sound. And these are just a few of the racing car's technical highlights, with which the University of Stuttgart's racing team competed against international Formula Student teams in the 2020/21 season

The team celebrated six victories and a total of sixteen trophies, awarded for various disciplines in the summer of 2021, at events in Austria, Hungary, Croatia, the Netherlands and at Hockenheimring in Germany. The team secured their greatest success of the season at the Hungaroring in Hungary. Three wins, two second places and three other top ten results in nine different disciplines led to second place overall in the Combustion Vehicle class. This achievement was made possible by team spirit, the ability to overcome setbacks and, last but not least, hard work in the workshop at Pfaffenwaldring and at local events.

Happy faces at the end of the Hungaroring race.
