KOALA Innovation Initiatives: Wanted! Innovative ideas for teacher training

In 2022, the Professional School of Education Stuttgart-Ludwigsburg (PSE) is once more inviting teachers and students to contribute new ideas to help redesign teacher training at the universities in Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg. The deadline for applications is December 12, 2021.

Teachers and students are involved in teacher training or teaching degree programs every day. They have experience and can recognize needs and know where innovative ideas could make a big difference. As part of an annual call for proposals, five universities affiliated with the Professional School of Education Stuttgart-Ludwigsburg (PSE) are supporting the commitment and solution-oriented proposals from both teachers and students.

The joint project “KOALA – Kooperation in allen Lehramtsfächern auf- und ausbauen” is being funded by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts as part of the "Teacher Training in Baden-Württemberg" program. The KOALA project leaders are looking forward to innovative collaborations, which may include subject-specific, didactic or educational approaches, as well as interdisciplinary projects that focus on an overarching issue.

How can spatial distance be overcome?

This year, preference will be given to initiatives that develop specific solutions for overcoming the physical distance between partner universities by means of innovative teaching and learning concepts in technical, didactic or organizational terms, in order to enable student teachers to participate regardless of their place of study. This is a great opportunity to become a pioneer and role model for the design of future teaching. Possible initiatives include:

  • Joint development of cross-university study programs or the cooperative further development of existing courses, including technical, didactic or organizational concepts for overcoming the physical distance between partner universities, with a focus on promoting and further developing successful specialized group work.
  • Cross-university conferences and workshops on subject-related or interdisciplinary topics in teacher training.
  • Cooperative research projects in the field of teacher training.
  • Initiatives for improving networking among student teachers.

Please submit your application no later than Sunday, December 12, 2021. The PSE Board and representatives from all five partner universities will select the most innovative from the applications received. Details about the call for proposals, eligibility requirements, and the application form can be found on the PSE website.
