Apply now: StartScience mentoring

May 2, 2023

The mentoring program for female students is entering the next round.

Are you interested in a career in science and would like to further develop this perspective?

StartScience mentees are accompanied by a mentor (doctoral student at the University of Stuttgart) for one year. This gives you the opportunity to gain unique insights into the everyday life of female scientists and the chance to better assess and expand your own potential and abilities. Not only does this program offer you the opportunity to meet many interesting and committed people, it also gives participants the chance to develop a professionally relevant network.

What our former mentees say

"StartScience offers me the opportunity to concentrate on my academic career, while also getting to know new study programs and my fellow students. It's a lot of fun to exchange ideas in small groups and talk about problems at university - it proves that you're not alone with your thoughts, others feel exactly the same!" - Lisa R.

"StartScience has given me lots of valuable impulses, and today, more than ever, I can imagine a career in science. In addition, I have met many exciting women who have changed my view of old familiar things and opened up new ways of thinking. I would happily recommend this program to any student!" - Evelyne R.

"I was able to bring to the program all the facets, doubts, and values that I bring as the first person in my family to go to university - and as someone who aims to do a doctoral degree and who is nearly 30 - and to grow as a person within this trusting framework. The extensive support you receive over the entire year from a personal mentor, workshops, and discussion rounds, for example on the topic of family & career, and much more are unique to the University of Stuttgart." - Katharina E.

Would you like to share your experience and support female students in their career planning?

StartScience female mentors share their experiences and contacts with their mentees and provide advice and support in career planning. This encourages mentors to them reflect on their own career paths and strengthens their advisory and mediation skills. Furthermore, it is also a chance to expand your own personal network and gain new impulses.

The StartScience mentoring program is aimed at female bachelor's and master's students from all fields of study at the University of Stuttgart. Participation is free of charge, but you are required to have passed your mid-degree exam.
The application deadline is 5/21/2023 for mentees and 5/31/2023 for mentors.
