Student groups and initiatives

University Sports offers a huge variety of sports in over 100 inexpensive courses per semester - there's something for everybody!

Stuvus represents student interests within the university. It also organizes festivities, campaign days, and the beloved Campus Beach and Winter Beach. Stuvus also work as an umbrella organization supporting all other official student groups.

  • stuvus departments (Referate) work on different themes, e.g. diversity, sustainability, or mobility.
  • stuvus working groups (Arbeitskreise) organize e.g. a campus festival, a magazine, and gardening projects on campus.

All students are welcome to join!

Each subject (area) has its own student association called "Fachgruppe". It organizes activities and represents the students towards the university. Most Fachgruppen collect former exam questions which can be very useful when preparing for exams.

Do you want to get to know local students from your study field? The Fachgruppe is your place to go! You can find your Fachgruppe on the website of your study program or the stuvus website.

Do you want to construct model airplanes? Join political debates? Develop green energy racing cars? Organize a career fair? On the stuvus website, you can find a full list of self-organized student groups at the University of Stuttgart. You can also join an orchestra, a choir, a photo club, or a theatre group. Some groups also organize events that are open to the public. Check the extracurricular studies for students!

There are several national student associations active at the University of Stuttgart, such as the Association for Chinese Students and Academics in Stuttgart (VCWSS) and the Syrian Student Association (SSV). Check them out on the stuvus website!

These groups bring together students from all universities in the Stuttgart area.

AEGEE organizes events and language cafés for exchange students in Stuttgart.

AIESEC is a global platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential. It is a non-political, independent, non-profit organization run by students and recent graduates.

IAESTE is an international, non-political, independent organization that arranges internships abroad.

ESN organizes activities primarily for and with ERASMUS students but welcomes all local and international students.

Learn the basics of radio broadcasting, develop your own program ideas, join the music editorial team or take part in a podcast workshop. HORADS 88,6 [de] welcomes students from all departments.

Share your insights into real student life in Stuttgart! All students are welcome to contribute to the USUS blog either in German or English.

Please note: Don't hesitate to get in touch with student organizations that only have a German website. In many cases, they simply lack the resources to maintain a bilingual website and are happy to welcome students participating in English.

 

A lot to do on and around campus!

The Ecumenical Center of the Christian churches, ÖZ (Ökumenisches Zentrum), welcomes students of all denominations to meet and interact. Check out their events and the best coffee on campus!

STUBE is the short form of the German word 'Studienbegleitprogramm' and is a non-profit offer for students from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. Its motto is: Education for improved development! STUBE invites you to interesting seminars on global issues at low or no cost. Have a look!

Welcome Center Stuttgart offers bi-weekly events like Game Nights at the Weltcafe (Charlottenplatz). Also, check out their events on job hunting and working in Germany!

Club International is an international meeting place for young people between the ages of 18 and 27 in Stuttgart – not just for students. The activities are varied and practicing German is highly encouraged. Sponsor of Club International is a long-standing non-profit organization VIJ e.V. .
