Graduate Academy of the University of Stuttgart (GRADUS)

The Graduate Academy of the University of Stuttgart (GRADUS) is the central institution at the University of Stuttgart for the promotion of early career researchers and offers a wide range of qualifications, information, counseling and mentoring services.

The GRADUS Graduate Academy of the University of Stuttgart cooperates with other institutions to optimize the qualification opportunities and support structures for outstanding junior academics, such as doctoral researchers postdoctoral researchers and junior professors from both Germany and abroad.

Advice for doctoral researchers, postdoctoral researchers, and junior professors on topics as:

  • Planning and conducting the doctoral qualification or habilitation (interdisciplinary)
  • Help with administrative tasks related to the doctoral qualification or habilitation (e.g. the application procedure for admission as a doctoral researcher)
  • Information on the Graduate Academy’s qualification program
  • Counseling for international doctoral and postdoctoral researchers as well as junior professors
  • Advice on scholarships (e.g. Graduate Support, scholarships from foundations)
  • Support and information on completing a doctoral degree or a habilitation for researchers with children

Advice and services for the faculties and institutions

  • Conceptual consulting for future joint projects with regard to the promotion of young researchers in cooperation with the National Research Funding Division and the Project Office of the Division 1 Research and Communication at the University of Stuttgart
  • Support and advice for university lecturers planning to establish a doctoral program
  • Advising the faculties in the creation, maintenance and ongoing development of support structures for doctoral research projects outside structured graduate programs
