The changing nature of industrial construction
Industrial construction shapes landscapes and urban spaces, it is part of the working world, an expression of society's productivity, and it is a cultural expression of the working world in both positive and negative ways. This talk will address all these aspects in a concentrated form and also provide a framework for discussing current issues. The disruptive, technological progress brought about by artificial intelligence, and the effects of climate change present us with major challenges. These pave the way for innovations and new ways of thinking in terms of how to handle resources, constructions, and social structures. They are changing our cities and the demands placed on architecture and interior design, and they require new forms of exchange and networking between the major players involved from the business sector, politics, the city, citizens, and planners. And they are paving the way for new products, for example "mobility services" and not just "car". Together with our partners from the industrial sector, research and planning, we not only highlight change as a constant companion for new requirements at the level of the city, the neighborhood, the building or even the material, we will also be discussing what planning processes and working and living spaces will be needed in the future and what these developments will mean for people who work and live in environments characterized by industrial construction.
