Professor Dr. Heinz Voggenreiter, German Aerospace Centre (DLR), Stuttgart

As a pioneer of digitalization megatrends, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) is carrying out research that will fundamentally change the aerospace sector, whether it be on aircraft development, automated production technology or networked research platforms. The challenges of accessing the digital world are connected with a whole host of new challenges – not only in terms of technology, but also in terms of qualifications and training. Many new jobs are being created in the fields of robotics, soft and hardware development, and new fields that have only developed as a result of digitalization.

Intelligent robots are making production more flexible, faster, more efficient and are helping to save resources. Digital networking offers the opportunity to influence future technology and generate economic profit in Germany. One prerequisite for this is that those working in these fields are continuously being trained to face and tackle these new challenges. In this lecture, the institute’s Director, Prof. Dr. Heinz Voggenreiter will be exploring the challenges and opportunities that are arising as a result of digitalization and explaining how best to constructively deal with such complex issues.
