Start your future – Stuttgart your future!
During the introductory week for first-year students, our new students can get to know the university and the city of Stuttgart. This gives them the opportunity to network with each other – even beyond the boundaries of their respective degree programs.
First-semester welcome Avete Academici
At the start of the 2025/26 winter semester and the beginning of the first semester orientation week, Professor Peter Middendorf, Rector of the University of Stuttgart, and the student council stuvus welcomed the new students on October 6 in the Hegel Hall of the Liederhalle Stuttgart. The rector was delighted to see the Hegel Hall filled to capacity: "At the University of Stuttgart, you will meet experts who will provide you with knowledge. Scientists who, above all, will inspire you to remain curious and make your own discoveries. Immersing yourself in the academic world also means asking questions and, above all, taking personal responsibility for your chosen path of learning and life. We will support you, but you must walk this path yourself." With these words, he prepared the first-year students for this new phase of their lives.
Isabel Fezer, mayor of the state capital Stuttgart, welcomed the new students to Stuttgart. She recalled her own time as a student and how important it is to take advantage of opportunities for personal exchange and to dare to think outside the box.
Katarina Moor from the student council stuvus wished the new students lots of fun above all else. The student council then explained to the freshers what is important in the first days of study and gave an overview of the facilities and contact persons at the University of Stuttgart
Market of opportunities
At the Market of Opportunities, University of Stuttgart departments, student initiatives, and the student council stuvus showcased their diverse range of counseling, leisure, sports, and continuing education offerings.
Welcome Day for international students
A Welcome Day was held for international students on October 8 at the International Center of the University of Stuttgart. Over lemonade and snacks, international students had the opportunity to make initial contact with their fellow students. Staff from the International Office were on hand to chat and answer questions. In addition, donated everyday items were made available for students to help themselves to as they wished. Students then had the opportunity to get to know the Vaihingen campus better on one of three mini campus tours, which they could join spontaneously.
