Diversity as a core element of university culture
A special highlight this year was the self-built float of the student representation "stuvus", with which the group created a good atmosphere despite the often times pouring rain and was able to visibly present the university's motto “Intelligent through diversity”. In addition to taking part in the demonstration, the University of Stuttgart was also represented for the first time at the CSD street festival on Sunday with its own information stand. There, members of the university got into conversation with visitors, provided information about their commitment to diversity and topics relating to LGBTQAI+ and also sent a clear signal for visibility and participation beyond the parade.
Diversity is a core element of the culture at the University of Stuttgart. Different identities, perspectives and experiences enrich teaching, research and interaction on campus. For this diversity to be effective, a climate of openness, respect and appreciation is needed.
With its presence at the CSD, the University of Stuttgart is committing itself to these values and demonstrating that diversity is not an accessory, but the foundation for creativity, innovation and sustainable success at the university and beyond.
"I am delighted that the University of Stuttgart is once again taking part in Christopher Street Day in Stuttgart," said Prof. Judith Tonhauser, Vice Rector for Early Career Researchers and Diversity.
"It is clear to me that I stand in solidarity with the queer community – today, on CSD, and on every other day of the year. This commitment to tolerance and openness also applies to the entire University of Stuttgart."
