Marius Lichtl, who studies Aerospace Engineering at the University of Stuttgart, has been awarded a badge of honor by the city of Stuttgart. During the Corona pandemic, Lichtl and other members of the stuvus Student Council developed a pool of helpers. By April 2020, approximately 300 registered voluntary helpers from various colleges and universities had clocked up over 1000 hours of voluntary work at various facilities to help mitigate the effects of the Corona pandemic.

The students took on a wide variety of tasks. They advocated for better digital teaching and exam situations during the pandemic, as well as financial support for students. In addition to volunteering at university facilities, the volunteers also helped at the German Red Cross and the Stuttgarter Tafel, as well as building shelters for the homeless or volunteering at fever screenings.

"We were just doing our job," said Marius Lichtl to the Stuttgarter Zeitung newspaper. He went on to say, that he received the award on behalf of the entire team.
