"Welcome to the Polycene" is the annual topic of the School for Talents and is aimed at students at the University of Stuttgart who are passionate about science. They have the opportunity to get to know peers from other disciplines, learn how various systems shape our daily lives and discover which updates our systems need to become future-proof.
When being part of the class of 2026 over the course of twelve months students will benefit from workshops, excursions, discussions and community-events, meet stakeholders from science, society, politics and culture and be able to contribute to the annual program.
Participants will examine how rapid developments, such as artificial intelligence, or the growing impacts of climate change, trigger cascading effects across societies, economies, and systems of governance. Against this backdrop, the program focuses on a central question: How can individuals and communities organize, collaborate, and act effectively in an interdependent world?
